Message from President Josephine Libassi
MITA Members - YOU are AMAZING! I am so thankful and appreciative of all of you who turned out for last night's Board of Ed meeting and for the tons of communication I received in support, even if you couldn't be there!
I cannot even put into words how much that showing of solidarity meant to US as a union, and to me personally as your President. The idea of literally 200 members waiting patiently in a hallway just to be there, be present and be seen, is just overwhelming to me. Believe me, the impact of that packed board room and the statement it made spoke VOLUMES to everyone in attendance at the front of the room: the Board and the District Central Administration. I apologize for how late it got and how long you all had to wait for what was actually a very brief statement. Please know that was not in my control and was not anticipated in advance of the meeting.
The statement I made was sincere. We will continue to take the high road in the face of whatever is presented to us in return. I think that was clearly evident last night in the responses to it, and the attempt to silence a board member who simply had a comment.
