Just wanted to take another opportunity to say how proud I am of all of us, and how proud we should all be of ourselves, as a result of our efforts in getting through this year successfully, and against such unprecedented obstacles.
The district's building Task Forces are now meeting with regard to potential strategies for re-opening in September. I want to be clear when I say to you all that my focus and my priority on the Re-opening Task Force is going to be about OUR safety, proceeding with extreme caution, and not being pressured by parents (who understandably want their children back in school) to re-open fully before it is truly safe to do so. Additionally, I will continue to discourage the use of any live platforms, and I will oppose any requirement that we do so. That being said, we collectively did so many engaging creative activities this year, I can only imagine that there will be even more we can do, should it be necessary to continue Distance Learning to whatever degree necessary in the fall. Of course State Ed and the Gov. will be issuing guidance and directives as well, so much of this will be evolving as we go forward.
I have also attached some information from NYSUT about the June Primary. Absentee ballots have been sent out to those who requested them. Early Voting also starts this weekend. As always, you can also vote in person at your normal polling location. More information on how to vote can be found here.
Finally, don't forget about our end of the year get-together on Tuesday June 16th. We are starting at 3:15 PM, so come on up to Don Quijote in Miller Place. They have put together a great plan for us: curbside, individually packaged appetizer samplers and your choice of drink. We can be socially distant in the parking lot and have a toast to 2020. Hopefully weather will cooperate, (or we'll be in our cars!) so come down and let's end of the year with a little get together!
